Crowley I have some really good news!! Call me whenever you wake up!

[That was a good move on Allen's part because of course the demon was asleep. But in the morning (okay in the afternoon) he wakes up and answers this. ]

Is this actually good news or have you just managed to eat five times your weight in doughnuts or something?

[Afternoon? Wow. That's almost bright and early for Crowley. Allen's had to sleep since then, but he still sounds bright and enthusiastic.]

Hey! That would be great news! I have yet to get past four times..!

The 14th's been sealed. Completely.

I mean, Robin said if someone tampered with the seal it could be undone, but...they'd have to go into my mind and know what they're doing to do something like that.

[Congrats, Allen, you managed to puncture through his usual cloud of apathy and got him sounding actually happy about something! ]

Really? That's fantastic! About time we had some good news in this shithole.

[You know, even if he's in an extremely good mood? Hearing Crowley sound happy too is still weird enough that for a second, he's taken aback by it. Because whoa, what is that. He is not used to that tone in the slightest.]

[But right okay, moving on from that. It's a good time to be happy after all!!]

Yeah, I'd say so! I even feel normal again! It's going to take awhile to get used to that.

[It's okay, Allen, it only lasted like that one time. It's back to the most sardonic tone ever again. All is right in the universe.]

Of course it is. Not having the lingering worry of that lunatic breaking free isn't exactly something you get used to. It's like rock climbing or something and when you hit the ground and you don't need that bungee chord thing around you any more, but you're still used to leaning against it.

...There was a metaphor somewhere there, but I've just woken up so you'll have to take it for as it is.

Ah...sure! I think I get what you mean! Like it takes a bit of time not to have the nagging worry that you'll fall to your death, right?

Exactly! And that's a good thing. Keeps you on your guard in case something goes wrong. Which in this place is always possible.

So I'm supposed to...keep worrying about the 14th, then?

Not worrying exactly. Someone knows you do enough of that with just regular life bullshit. Just...remember to be aware. I thought I was safe with that little necklace doodad I got after the whole...Griffith [he still says the guy's name like something he's found lurking under a toilet seat] incident. Did bugger all for me when we were aboard the Event Horizon, though.

If our magical otherworldly prisons really want us to be a danger to everyone else, they'll find some way around it.

[There's a slight pause on Allen's end. It's not quite surprising that those events are still preying on the back of Crowley's mind, but it's a reminder of it. He could hardly blame him, God knows Allen still had nightmares about those times. They weren't as frequent or as vivid as they used to be, but...they still happened.]

I understand.

I'll be careful, Crowley. I promise. The senior members of my crew already know about my situation, and they've worked on preventative measures in case something happens. [Non-lethal, at their insistence. Mostly involving luring him into a shuttle] Even with this seal, that won't change.

Good. Least they know what to expect and how to deal with it if the worst should happen. Forewarned is forearmed and all that.

[Okay that was his caring quota met for the month. Back to snarky douchebaggery.]

Well, I slept in till nearly noon, and then Clay cooked me a delicious breakfast. I haven't figured out what to do from there yet.
